Guide to Buying an Unlocked Cell Phone
For a long time cell phones have been locked to a certain cell phone network meaning we have not been able to use different network SIM cards in the one phone. As a result, we’d either stick with the one network or bit the bullet and pay the unlocking fee.
Fortunately, the internet has opened an entire realm of possibility when it comes to buying an unlocked cell phone or having an existing cell phone unlocked.
It is preferable to purchase an unlocked cell phone outright rather than unlock your existing cell phone, as there are many third party companies who will perform the unlocking for you but cannot guarantee it will not cause permanent damage to your cell phone.
Another option has been to purchase a new unlocked cell phone outright. When shopping in traditional mobile phone retailer stores, this has always been the most expensive option but the only quick way of obtaining a new cell phone that is not restricted to use on a specific network.
eBay is generally thought of as the best source for purchasing a low priced unlocked cell phone as sellers do not have the overhead costs of traditional stores and can get away with making a profit even with a lower sale price.
